Electric Fail-Safe Actuators for Multiple Operations of Quarter Turn Valves and Dampers

Flow-Quip SE Series "Stored Energy" Electric Actuators provide multiple fail-safe stroking of valves and dampers. They are suitable for shop or field mounting on a wide range of ball, plug and butterfly valves. Open/Close and modulating control configurations are available in the SE Series.

Each SE Series actuator contains a compact electro-hydraulic power module that provides hydraulic pressure for the powerful scotch-yoke torque mechanism. This self contained design greatly reduces installation time since no field hydraulic tubing runs are needed.

Each actuator can be controlled by monitoring primary electrical power and/or electrical control signal(s). When commanded, hydraulic stored energy from the on board accumulator powers the actuator to its fail-safe position. The accumulator is sized to give multiple strokes without motor power being available. Hydraulic power means that the SE Series provides accurate valve speed control and if needed, precise positioning capability for modulating service.

The actuator may be powered by a wide range of electrical supplies from either AC (single or 3 phase), or DC sources. Only rugged industrial service motors with internal thermal overload protection are utilized. All motor leads are terminated in a separate sealed terminal housing and clearly marked for field connection.

Solar Power – For Remote Locations

For pipeline locations in remote areas where electrical power is unavailable or unreliable, the SE Series Solar Power option is a logical choice. After analyzing the site location and topography, Flow-Quip will utilize low current draw components to provide a complete site valve automation package including solar collectors power regulators, battery storage unit and valve actuator. If needed, DC power for site mounted SCADA equipment may also be furnished from the solar power supply.
